Brave New World: TEDxBrno 2025 explored longevity, psychedelics, and inner freedom — with NEWTON by its side
What kind of future awaits us? A fundamental question humanity has asked for millennia echoed throughout every session of this year’s TEDxBrno. Under the theme Brave New World, innovative thinkers, visionaries, entrepreneurs, and scientists came together to offer perspectives on the challenges of today’s world — and NEWTON University was proud to be a partner in this remarkable event.
The programme was structured around three thematic segments — SOUL, VISION, and FLOW — each addressing crucial questions about the future: from physical and mental wellbeing, through technological transformation, to inner motivation and resilience.
SOUL: The body and mind as our most personal homes
“We must take care of our closest homes — our body and our soul,” said coach and ice hockey trainer Marian Jelínek in a talk focused not only on personal balance but also on the importance of psychological resilience and mental health.
He highlighted the rise in mental health issues and self-harm among young people — despite the fact that we “live in the best period in history.” His call to action was clear and urgent: cultivate healthy habits, manage emotions, and practise inner freedom — because the subjective world is, ultimately, the last place where we remain truly free.
VISION: Longevity, technology, and the ethics of the future
The second session featured entrepreneur and futurist Petr Šrámek, founder of LongevityTech.fund, who gave a talk titled Longevity as the key to humanity’s survival. His message went beyond biology and ageing — urging us to think in longer-term horizons:
“What are the most pressing challenges for humanity’s survival over the next 10 to 20 years?” he asked. Alongside artificial intelligence, he pointed to population ageing, falling birth rates, and climate change — including the prospect of climate migration.
Personal reflections were also shared. “I started writing down everything I’m grateful for,” said Jan Staněk, as he described his approach to sustainability and meaningful entrepreneurship. His “aha moments” ranged from witnessing electricity in a Chinese household to founding a fund supporting electromobility.
FLOW: The inner game that shapes the outer one
The final segment focused on the search for balance between personal wellbeing and outward success. “Many people only focus on the outer game — but if your inner game is off, nothing else will work,” one speaker said during an inspiring talk.
FLOW concluded the day with a sense of seamless connection — both literally and metaphorically. The audience was captivated by an acrobatic performance that followed earlier musical acts, highlighting the integration of body, mind, and movement. Tomáš Mejzlík spoke about engaging children in science and technology, Petra Hrušková reminded us that happiness is a choice, and Jiří Charvát closed the programme with his signature humour.
Psychedelics, children, and the future
Alongside entrepreneurs and coaches, more unconventional approaches to societal healing also found space. Eva Césarová, an advocate for psychedelic research, opened a discussion on both traditional and modern uses of psychoactive substances as tools for personal and collective transformation.
Tomáš Mejzlík reminded us that the future does not start with us — it starts with children. His talk Children, Science and the Future of the World highlighted the importance of STEM education, curiosity, and developing the skills young people need to navigate the world ahead.
NEWTON University: A partner for the future
NEWTON University was honoured to be a partner of this year’s TEDxBrno — not just as a name on a banner. We share a vision of a world where business meets ethics, technology meets humanity, and education is rooted in deeper purpose.
We believe the future calls for leaders who are not only capable, but also resilient, empathetic, and grounded in what truly matters. And TEDxBrno 2025 was filled with exactly that kind of inspiration.
